Namir lunged towards Aeron, so she called a shadow to grab his leg to trip him. He pooled the shadows around him on the ground. Instead of falling, he sunk into the darkness. Aeron’s adrenaline pumped wildly in her system causing her heart beat to increase and making her lose focus. She fought the rage that normally came to her in these battle situations trying to think clearly. Another moment passed, Aeron knew he was toying with her hoping that she would revert to her old Demon Spawn persona. She breathed deeply and sensed the shadows around her. Walking slowly, she saw a small shadow and reached into it. She yanked him out and used the shadows to propel him out of it. He shot up in the air, but flipped and landed on his feet.
The shadows twisted around her feet, but she quickly calmed them. He shrugged unconcerned that his attempt failed. Skimming the surface of the ground, Aeron rapidly floated towards him on a sea of darkness. She aimed her kick for the ribs. He caught the kick between his elbow and knee in a cross block.
“Stupid Girl. I can break your leg now, Demon Spawn.” He brought his elbow down harder in an attempt to break the bone.
His elbow felt a hard surface like armor. He glanced down to see the shadows molded around her leg protecting her from his block. The shock was evident on his face, but he still held her leg where it was while he decided what his next move should be. Aeron did not waste any moments of hesitation. She extended the shadows around her leg to past her feet and dozens of spikes shot out to impale Namir. He let go and dropped to the ground while he clutched his gut and the blood poured between his fingers. He gasped and fear filled his eyes as he realized that these were the last moments of his life. Aeron stepped away from him and turned to where Arabella and Caedmon’s body were.
